Studying on the Grass
Student Visa

If you’re looking to study at secondary or tertiary level in New Zealand, you’re certainly not alone. Many overseas students come to New Zealand, drawn by its superb educational facilities and top-class qualifications that receive international recognition.

Before you apply for your visa, you must have an offer from a New Zealand education provider for an approved course; this course must meet the requirements of New Zealand immigration policy. All course fees have to be paid prior to your application, or proof of exemption needs to be supplied alongside your application.

Your student visa allows you to remain in New Zealand for the duration of your course. In some cases, you might be eligible to apply for part time work of up to 20 hours per week if your course has a duration of more than one year. As the holder of a New Zealand Student Visa, you must meet all health and character requirements throughout your course of study.
